Services include:
Strategy & investment plan development: developing strategies and business cases for investment in new connectivity infrastructure
Integration: how to integrate communication infrastructure with urban systems and new technologies such as connected and autonomous vehicles, as well as identifying where connectivity work can be incorporated into other planned infrastructure projects
Use cases: understand how enhanced connectivity through fibre or 5G can support more efficient cities
IOT and sensor technology: design and implementation of sensor technology solutions to remote monitor and control assets
New business models: how the data generated by sensors and urban assets can support the development of new methods of service delivery.
The Internet of Things and next generation public services have huge potential, but none of their benefits can be realised without digital connectivity. Despite being an increasingly connected society, only 27% of UK households can access modern, gigabit-capable broadband. As the rollout of new connectivity technology is fragmented and delivered by multiple providers, there is a risk that some get left behind and can’t take advantage of new opportunities.
Our Digital Connectivity practice works with local authorities to help them understand the potential of new connectivity solutions like 5G and FTTH, and develop digital connectivity strategies for both city infrastructure and housing stock, working with a range of commercial providers. We also support clients in the planning and delivery of new digital infrastructure, as well as helping communicate to residents the advantages and opportunities of higher speed connectivity.
